Intangible Cultural Heritage.?????
A non phyiscal characteristic...
* oral traditions and expressions, including language as a vehicle of the intangible cultural heritage;
* music, dance, drama and other performing arts
* social practices, rituals and festive events;
* knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe;
* foods and clothing
* and traditional craftsmanship
The intangible cultural heritage is transmitted from generation to generation, and is constantly recreated by communities and groups, in response to their environment, their interaction with nature, and their historical conditions of existence. It provides people with a sense of identity and continuity. Its safeguarding promotes, sustains, and develops cultural diversity and human creativity.

Colloquialisms (if that's how you spell it) maybe? There are traditional Black Country words in my family's vocabulary that you won't find in a dictionary (yampy, saft). People I know in Derbyshire say 'watta' not 'water', and they call everyone 'Duck' whereas in the States they'll say 'Dude'. Obviously there are generation differences too.
Take it this is for Japan? I've got a nice illustrated book about Tokyo somewhere - I'll dig it out for you.
